Samui Summer Jazz Festival’ Spreads its Musical Magic to Samui’s Schoolchildren

Continuing its commitment to support the local community, Skål International Koh Samui together with its charity partner Sisters on Samui [SOS], the InterContinental Koh Samui and Bangkok Hospital Samui, this week donated THB60,000 towards the SOS children’s education initiative ‘Music in Schools’, as a result of its recent  ‘Samui Summer Jazz Festival 2026’ and another sold-out concert of world-class jazz.

Through generous donations and ticket sales, Skål International Koh Samui and its partners were able to provide the budding young musicians at the local Anthong School with musical instruments for their school orchestra.  This is the sixth such donation to go to supporting music in local schools.

Commenting on this initiative, Jane Soergel, President of Skål International Koh Samui, and General Manager of the InterContinental Koh Samui which hosted the event, said: “Since 2021 our annual ‘Samui Summer Jazz Festival’ has been bringing world-class jazz to Samui through our partner, Dutch tenor-sax supremo Alexander Beets and his group of top class musicians, giving much joy to our jazz loving residents and visitors.  We agreed it would be an ideal fit to inspire the local children to pursue their musical dreams with our support.

This year’s Samui Summer Jazz Festival concert was another sensational night of world-class ‘jazz under the stars’ at the InterContinental’s iconic Air Bar, which saw jazz greats, Dutch trumpeter Michael Varekamp and his Quintet, and fellow countryman Alexander Beets perform their celebrated repertoire of jazz classics from New York to New Orleans in a show entitled ‘Rhythms in the Air’.
