Skål Club Seoul Advances “Skål Tree Digital Map Initiative” on Nami Island
Skål Club Seoul successfully led the “Skål Tree Digital Map Initiative” on Nami Island, bringing together approximately 50 tourism professionals from Korea and abroad to promote sustainable tourism through meaningful, hands-on action.
At the heart of the initiative was the “Skål One Tree Project,” a participatory tree-planting program designed to translate sustainability discussions into tangible outcomes. Participants planted trees and recorded their locations on a global digital map, contributing to a shared platform that supports environmental conservation and encourages responsible tourism practices worldwide.
A key outcome of the event was the creation of the “Skål International Garden,” a commemorative space that reflects the collective commitment of Skål members to sustainability and serves as a lasting symbol of international cooperation within the tourism industry. The initiative also strengthened collaboration between Skål Club Seoul and Nami Island, reinforcing their shared vision of eco-conscious tourism development.
Following the tree-planting activity, participants gathered at the Water Garden for a networking luncheon and engaged in open discussions on sustainable tourism trends, challenges, and opportunities. The program provided a valuable platform for industry professionals to exchange ideas and explore practical approaches to advancing sustainability across the tourism sector.
Established in 1969, Skål Club Seoul continues to play a leading role in connecting tourism professionals and driving initiatives that support environmental responsibility and long-term industry resilience in Korea.
Nami Island, recognized for its eco-friendly operations and natural environment, further demonstrated its leadership in sustainable tourism through its partnership in this initiative, building on its global recognition as a premier eco-tourism destination.
